Celadon is  a type of high-fired stoneware with a wood ash, crackled glaze.  These pieces are fine examples of the art form in northern Thailand, a region that produces some of the finest celadons available today.  These methods can be traced back 2,000 years to China.

Thai celadon is relatively new.  In the 14th century, A.D.,  King Ramkamhaeng of
Sukhothai  brought potters from China to teach the craft to his potters;
 however there are indications that the craft was imported some years earlier.
