Kota “Reliquary” Figure

This important tribal piece was plunged in baskets full of bones of passed tribal members to ward off evil spirits.  Most of these figures have copper fashioned over wood. It is believed  the metal had special power.  This is a fine lozenge- shaped piece, with typical styling,  and is in good condition. The indigenous soil has been left in place for all these years.  

24 inches high.  Estimated age 40-50 years.
