Old Baule  "Colonial” or “Colon” Figure

Created by a tribal artist to imitate Europeans 
and wealthy Americans who came to Africa in the early to mid 20^th century. The face and hair are outstanding (old tribal repair to hair). He is dressed in what appears to be a white suit complete with pockets! The old milk paint has faded to a cream color.  Note the shoes.  Excellent overall patina--especially rich on the scarified face. He stands 21 inches high, which is a taller than usual example.  This is a very good old "colonial figure."   We set the age to date from the early 20th century.
